CDL Rear Load Truck Driver

About the role

Residential Rear Load Drivers service customers by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to disposal sites or recycling plants. This position operates various types of trucks and services multiple routes across different areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services safely and compliantly by emptying containers into the truck and hauling to disposal sites.
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on the assigned route.
• Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings as required.
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area.
• Clean up waste spills and overflows.
• Maintain and update route and driver log sheets.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers to provide excellent service.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body; ensure cleanliness of the truck cab.
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Class B CDL.
• Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain prior to hire.
• At least 19 years of age.
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
• No DUI’s or OVI’s within the last 5 years (or 2 in the last 10 years).
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
• Ability to read and speak English.

Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand a map.
• Ability to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day.
• Excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
• General knowledge of truck mechanics.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for professional interaction with customers.
• Waste industry experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Continuously pushing/pulling a maximum of 75 lbs.
• Frequently lifting/carrying a maximum of 75 lbs.
• Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a maximum of 100 lbs.
• Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions.
• Continuously working in areas with dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
• Frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing.
• Frequently sitting, standing, and walking.

Additional Working Conditions

• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
• Ability to travel between offices as required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
