CDL Instructor

Roadmaster Drivers School, a subdivision of Werner Enterprises, Inc., is a nationally accredited educational institution that provides the highest standard of professional training. We are seeking experienced and highly qualified CDL Class A drivers who have the ability and desire to train the next generation of commercial truck drivers with professionalism, emphasizing safety and pride in their work.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate assigned driving operations for students on a regular basis
• Oversee the safe operation and use of equipment when being used by students, ensuring company policy and standards are adhered to
• Supervise all assigned trainees and complete necessary documentation, such as student attendance forms and training records
• Provide in-person daily instruction to students in the following areas: Full Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Control Skills, and Road Driving

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with no more than two moving violations in a 12-month period, and/or no more than three moving violations in a 24-month period (exceptions reviewed case-by-case)
• Minimum of 3 years over-the-road or local commercial driving experience, and/or meet minimum criteria required for instructor licensure within the applicable jurisdiction
• Must pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, pass an approved DOT drug test and hair follicle drug test (HFT), and agree to random and suspicion-based drug and alcohol screening
• Ability to effectively communicate using verbal and non-verbal/written skills
• Physical, intellectual, and leadership ability to deliver the company’s approved training and curriculum in classroom, pre-trip inspection, basic control skills, and road driving
• Successfully complete all required new hire onboarding, training, and continuing education as mandated by the company
