Job Summary
As the Equipment Operator you will operate heavy machinery in support of underground utility construction and excavation projects while ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities (Including, But Not Limited To)
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures
- Load, unload, haul, set up, and break down equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
- Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and documentation for assigned heavy equipment
- Operate equipment near active utilities while avoiding utility strikes and maintaining all required precautions
- Absorb and communicate with supervisors, and develop safe excavation plans around utilities and obstacles
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class A CDL required
- DOT Medical Card required
- Minimum 1 year of heavy equipment operating experience in underground utility construction
- Experience operating equipment near active utilities and working with locate systems
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to safely operate asphalt rollers, skid steers, backhoes, mini excavators, vacuum trucks, bore machines, and related heavy equipment
- Read and understand construction plans and specifications
- Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI standards, and company safety regulations
- Basic computer skills for reporting and communication
- Knowledge of basic shoring methods and rigging practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, twist, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods
- Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment
- Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and equipment for safe coordination
- Available to work additional hours and weekends as needed
