CDL Driver/Rigger

About the role

CDL Drivers are responsible for safely driving tractor and trailer rigs under DOT regulations to transport equipment and crews to job sites. They may also be involved with rigging or crating work. This role requires safe handling and securement of loads while loading and unloading of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
• Drive safely and under DOT regulations tractor & trailer rigs to transport equipment to job sites.
• Operate electronic logging devices.
• Secure loads, tarp, tie-down, and unload equipment safely.
• Adhere to safety requirements when hauling loads.
• Work well in a team environment.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
• Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment.
• Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily.
• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads.
• Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
• Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving.
• Select and use appropriate gear for load weights and sizes.
• Install ground rigging for yarding lines and attach chokers to logs.
• Align, level, and anchor machinery.
• Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear.
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials.
• Disassemble and store rigging equipment after use.
• Operate forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, and other equipment.
• Use precision measuring tools and equipment; hand, power, and pneumatic tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL with Air breaks and combo endorsements.
• Minimum two (2) years proven driving experience at CDL level.
• Minimum three (3) years proven experience or comparable field preferably within the construction service industry.
• Basic knowledge of operating equipment (Forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.).
• Experienced knowledge of load securement and safe hauling practices.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment; hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
