CDL Driver – Gainesville, FL
About the role
The CDL Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services in support of university operations, construction programs, and project teams. This position plays a critical role in transporting personnel, contractors, visitors, and materials throughout facilities while ensuring compliance with all university safety, security, and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport contractors, visitors, and stakeholders throughout university facilities and designated operational areas.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and complete required vehicle condition reports.
- Ensure compliance with university safety, security, traffic, and operational regulations.
- Cookordination transportation schedules and assignments with project management teams.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logs, mileage records, fuel usage reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Assist with the transportation of materials, equipment, and supplies as operational needs require.
- Support emergency response activities and special operational requirements.
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards, maintenance concerns, and safety issues immediately.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service while interacting with staff, contractors, passengers, and project stakeholders.
- Maintain awareness of ongoing construction activities, restricted access areas, and changing traffic patterns throughout the university.
- Assist with special transportation requests and operational support assignments as directed.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of experience operating commercial passenger vehicles.
- Experience transporting contractors and project staff.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Passenger (P) Endorsement required.
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Skills
- Experience operating shuttle buses, crew vans, passenger transport vehicles, or commercial buses.
- Experience working in and around active construction zones.

Pay
Salary $25.00 per hour.
Compensation is based on qualifications, experience, skills, certifications, and other job-related factors. A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
