CDL Driver -Class A (Local) - Bailey Nurseries
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer to shuttle freight between internal locations and complete deliveries to external customers.
- Drive local routes (no regular overnight runs), completing all trips safely and on schedule while following company policies and DOT regulations.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DOT compliant) and meet company safety standards.
- Report any safety concerns, maintenance needs, or repairs promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure all shipping paperwork and documentation is accurate, available for DOT inspection, and accompanies shipments to delivery points.
- Absorb hands-on help with loading/unloading and other support work when not driving.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional, positive presence when interacting with customers and team members.
- Support other assigned work when not driving.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license.
- Minimum 1 year tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Experience operating manual transmission vehicles.
- Must pass a background check, drug test, and clean MVR review.
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid DOT medical card prior to hire.
- Ability to operate—or willingness to learn—lift truck/forklift operation.
- Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate with customers and complete required documentation.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 60 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week, with extended hours during peak season.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions and work some weekends during peak season.
