CDL Driver- Class A (Hazmat) $5k sign on

Clean Harbors in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Class A CDL Driver (Hazmat) to operate a variety of heavy and light‑duty trucks and work equipment at customer sites, including vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll‑offs. The role involves both driving and non‑driving duties related to hazardous‑waste clean‑up.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number‑one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed (team atmosphere where everyone helps).
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Perform manual labor on site to fulfill customer needs.
• Properly placard vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations.
• Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports.
• Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules.
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements.
• Observe all corporate operating guidelines, procedures, and environmental health and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
• Participate in site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to use various mobile devices.
• Physical ability to meet job requirements.
• Successful completion of a drug test and physical examination.
• Compliance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (facial hair requirements for respirator use).
• Preferred: commercial driver experience.
• Preferred: existing Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
• Preferred: prior Hazmat experience.
• Preferred: ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Preferred: previous manual‑labor experience.

Pay

Pay range $28–$31 per hour, plus overtime and a sign‑on bonus of up to $5,000.
