Essential Job Responsibilities
- Unloads material between locations and stores those materials in a safe manner.
- Interprets work orders, verbal requests and instructions to move finished goods from location to location in a safe manner.
- Keep materials sorted and stored in prescribed order for ease in locating and moving.
- Insure that trucks and other equipment are properly fueled and serviced at all times.
- When material transfers are complete report to Supervisor for other work assignments.
- Will perform duties of a Shipper Material Handler as assigned.
- Performs duties in accordance with the Business Process Documentation.
- Participates in Viracon’s Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team’s performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Operate Ottawa tractor and Day cab tractor as needed.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with all department employees.
- Maintains a neat and orderly working area throughout the work day. This includes trucks and trailers.
- Performs duties in a safe manner using all approved safety equipment as instructed.
- May perform reasonably similar or related duties as instructed.
Qualifications
- Maintain your CDL endorsement on your license and meet the CDL physical requirements.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent GED preferred but not required.
- Forklift License, Class A and ICC physical card required.
- Ability to perform duties with little or no work direction.
- Must understand and comply with all DOT rules and regulations.
- Truck inspections and logs must be maintained on a shiftily basis to comply with DOT regulation.
- Any and all repairs must be logged and communicated to both your supervisor and to the truck shop.
- Must always operate equipment in accordance with all Federal, State and Local Laws.
- Prefer two years’ experience in Shipping.
- Familiar with the use of hoists, truck, pallets, common hand tools, computer, Bobcat, overhead crane and nail guns.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions. (English)
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.
- Must be able to safely perform essential job responsibilities.
- Ability to take supervision.
