CDL Driver

Operational Duties

• Follows DOT guidelines and Sun Orchard policies and procedures.
• Prepares, receives, and provides appropriate documentation for delivery or pick-up of goods.
• Oversees loading of trailer at the plant and off-site locations, ensuring all contents are secure.
• Maintains professionalism with everyone contacted, including suppliers, 3PLs, and employees.
• Maintains contact with dispatchers for delivery or pick-up instructions and updates.
• Maintains logbooks detailing hours traveled, rest periods, miles covered, fuel, repair, and toll expenses.
• Operates forklift and all heavy trailer equipment safely, maintaining proper speeds and clearances.
• Maintains tractors and trailers in a clean and organized fashion, including washing and cleaning it and monitoring tire pressure.
• Reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
• Prompts reports any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to supervisor.
• Assists in warehouse activities as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years commercial driving experience required.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and valid DOT Medical Card required.
• Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
• Tanker endorsement required, and Hazmat endorsement preferred.

Physical Demands

• Stand, walk, and sit for long periods.
• Wear protective equipment as required.
• Climb ladders or stairs.
• Communicate and hear readily.
• Use both hands and arms.

Work Environment

• Outside, office, and manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to noise, work near moving mechanical parts, forklifts, citrus fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Use of telephone, cell phones, computers, copiers, and other office equipment.
