CDL Driver

Conklin Metal Industries, a stable, family-owned company since 1874, is hiring a Class A CDL Driver for our Apex, NC branch. This local position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with home every night and opportunities for overtime.

About the Role

This hands-on driving position involves delivering sheet metal, HVAC, and duct fabrication materials to customers throughout the area. Drivers play a key role in the customer experience, handling more than just drop-and-hook deliveries.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, typically 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Home every night
• Overtime opportunities available
• No regular weekend schedule

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a commercial truck and trailer
• Complete pre-trip inspections
• Make local and regional customer deliveries
• Load and unload materials
• Secure loads using straps, chains, webbing, and tarps
• Check bills of lading, manifests, and freight for accuracy
• Hook and unhook trailers
• Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, lift gates, and other equipment
• Maintain required DOT documentation
• Keep your truck and trailer clean and safe
• Provide professional, friendly service to customers

Requirements

• Comfortable working independently
• Experience loading, unloading, and securing freight
• Ability to perform physical duties associated with commercial driving
• Frequent entry and exit from the truck throughout the day
• Capable of lifting and moving materials
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Adherence to DOT, state, federal, and company safety requirements
• Flatbed experience and experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping are especially valuable
