CDL Class A Truck Driver

About the role

This is an over-the-road delivery driving position. The domicile driver will transport, deliver, and/or unload metal roofing panels to customers in a safe and timely manner using a tractor-trailer. Deliveries are made to dealers, distribution centers, and construction job sites.

Responsibilities

• Safely deliver material in a “route truck/multi-drop” fashion to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations (e.g., heavy traffic, inclement weather, tight loading dock areas)
• Assist in unloading product using a Moffett at customer locations and/or return products
• Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other required documentation
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
• Answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content; direct customers to appropriate contacts when unable to answer specific questions
• Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections
• Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle and equipment; report necessary repairs and/or maintenance immediately
• Actively ensure compliance with DOT guidelines
• May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record
• 2 years of previous tractor-trailer driving experience, including winter driving (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
• Valid Medical Card
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work with precision to prevent damage or injury
• Ability to stoop, bend, and stand for long periods
• Ability to maintain constant alertness and work safely
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Pay

Base pay starts at $28.00 per hour with an $8,000 bonus.
