CDL class A Truck Driver
Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products for residential and low-rise non-residential buildings in North America. We serve residential and commercial customers across the new construction and Repair & Remodel (R&R) markets with a portfolio including vinyl windows, vinyl siding, stone veneer, metal roofing, metal wall systems, and metal accessories.
About the role
Perform product loading/unloading and delivery activities in a customer responsive, safe, and efficient manner. This is a regional, full-time position paying $25.00 an hour, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Provide and ensure customer-focused activities, deliverables, and services.
- Manage daily activities to drive continuous efficiency and process improvements.
- Perform material handling activities including loading and unloading material on a trailer by hand, forklift, or overhead crane.
- Reconcile material requirements with shipping lists to ensure correct delivery and obtain customer signatures to verify receipt.
- Collect correct amounts for COD deliveries.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer; ensure deficiencies are corrected if the vehicle is unsafe to operate.
- Operate onboard recording system (OBR) and adhere to company policies, D.O.T. regulations, and all federal, state, and local traffic laws while driving.
- Deliver products using a piggy-back trailer-mounted forklift (training available) at customer job sites.
- Provide courteous, prompt, and professional customer service at all times.
- Inspect and clean vehicle to ensure all functions are working correctly, safely, and maintain good appearance.
- Perform cleaning and housekeeping activities.
- Perform work in a safe and efficient manner; comply with all safety requirements and use applicable personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- 2 years of previous tractor-trailer flatbed driving experience, including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable).
- Valid Medical Card.
- Must be able to drive interstate as business necessitates.
- Must be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.
- Must be insurable according to company insurance requirements.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Position requires frequent standing, lifting, bending, and moving of heavy products (60+ pounds).
- May be exposed to varying temperatures and seasonal climate conditions.
A combination of education and experience may be qualifying.
