CDL Class A Truck Driver
About the role
The Driver will be expected to transport, deliver, and/or unload Harvey’s windows and doors to customers in a safe and timely manner to our dealers, distribution centers, and/or construction job sites using a tractor trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service.
Responsibilities
- Reviews load sheet and load for the day’s deliveries
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the equipment. Reports any issues to Supervisor
- Fuels the vehicle and authorizes fuel bill
- Transports materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Observes all DOT regulations, rules of the road, and defensive driving techniques
- Locates customer’s business/residence and confers with client as to where to unload materials
- Safely unloads materials, checks quality, reviews packing slip with customer, and secures customer signature
- Deals with customers in a courteous and professional fashion and accommodates customers’ requests whenever possible
- Picks up materials from vendors, and checks and verifies quality and quantity of materials before receipt
- Returns to plant and unloads vehicle
- Rotates functions with the department as needed and assigned by Supervisor. Works as a contributing member of the department team
- Completes all necessary paperwork and documentation neatly, timely, and accurately including driver’s logs, timecards, etc
- Maintains good housekeeping in the department
- Scans all product via handheld device provided
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to obtain a D.O.T. Medical Certificate
- 2 years of previous tractor trailer driving experience including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
- Previous hands on delivery experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
- Customer relations skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
- Must be able to load and unload items, with and without dollies, in various types of weather
- Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time
- Must be able to travel frequently
