CDL Class A Route Driver

About the role

As a key representative of Airgas, the delivery driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to Airgas branches and plants using a company-provided tractor-trailer. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
• Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers
• Support deliveries in a timely manner
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; this is a physically active and hands-on position
• Drivers will frequently move in and out of their vehicle

A day in the life of an Airgas driver

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) and Airbrake endorsements
• No automatic restriction on CDL; must be able and willing to drive a manual transmission
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card, and endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions or two (2) at-fault accidents in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• One year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months

• Forklift experience

Schedule

• Consistent routine: Monday-Friday predictable schedule with a 7 am start time
• Average 50-55 hour work week
