About This Role

The CDL A Hot Shot Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, tools, equipment, and construction-related supplies to project sites. This role operates medium-duty commercial vehicles and trailers in support of field operations, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with all applicable DOT regulations and company policies.

What You'll Do

• Operate CDL-required hot shot trucks and trailers in a safe, professional, and compliant manner
• Transport tools, equipment, materials, and supplies to active construction projects and operational facilities
• Secure loads utilizing approved tie-down methods and inspection procedures
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, trailers, and cargo
• Verify load manifests, delivery tickets, and other transportation documentation for accuracy
• Ensure compliance with all Federal DOT regulations, state laws, and company policies
• Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, inspection reports, and delivery documentation
• Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and equipment as needed
• Communicate status updates, delays, and delivery issues to dispatch, project teams, and supervisors
• Respond to changing project priorities and delivery schedules as business needs require
• Adhere to all company safety policies, site-specific requirements, and transportation procedures

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid, unrestricted Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required
• Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience preferred
• Knowledge of load securement requirements and DOT compliance standards
• Ability to safely operate pickup trucks, gooseneck trailers, flatbed trailers, and related equipment
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
• Ability to travel extensively (up to 100%) based on project requirements
• Maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company standards

Preferred Skills

• Experience hauling construction equipment, tools, and project materials
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and transportation safety practices
• Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, or other material-handling equipment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to adapt to changing schedules, routes, and project demands

Pay and Benefits

This is a non-exempt hourly role. The pay range is $30 - $35 per hour. Pay may vary depending on location, skills, and experience.
