CDL A Driver (LOCAL)

About the role

We are hiring a CDL A Driver in Bessemer, AL. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders, performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and supporting deliveries in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to Airgas Branches and Plants using a company provided Tractor Trailer.
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders & supplies.
• Nurture courteous & professional relationships with customers.
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders.
• Complete deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart.

Requirements

• Valid Class A with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements.
• No Automatic Restriction on CDL.
• Able and willing to drive a manual transmission.
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements.
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years.
• Able to work in a drug-free environment.
• Able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.

Qualifications

• Required: Valid Class A with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements.
• Preferred: Forklift experience.

Pay

Pay range is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Consistent routine: Monday-Friday predictable schedule featuring a 7am start time to support team flow. Dedicated schedule focused on team support and operational excellence consisting of an average 50-55 hour work week.
