Hiring Event: Wednesday, September 2nd, 9am–5pm at 901 S. Lake St, Oswego, IL 60538 (next to White Eagle Auto Body).

Pay

  • $25–$26 per hour with daily guarantee during 11-week training.
  • Component pay after training averaging upwards of $100,000 annually.

Schedule

  • 4–5-day work week with dispatch between 2:00–6:00 AM; availability required Monday–Saturday.
  • 40–70 hours per week.
  • Routes may include Day, Night, Overnight Layover (day cab, stipend & per diem provided) or Transit routes.

About the Role

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, while serving as the face of our company and building lasting customer relationships.

The Driver Trainee is an entry-level driver training role. Associates learn to haul freight and operate tractor trailers while assisting designated driver trainers with deliveries and routes. Communicates professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to answer questions accurately and timely. Functions as a team member and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
  • Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries.
  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies; immediately report all safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Internal PFG Candidates: 1 year of service in good standing as outlined in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
  • Able to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card.
  • Valid CDL A.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and road test.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (60–90 pounds) throughout shift.
