CDL A Delivery Driver

Dispatch Monday–Friday between 3 am–5 am from 8121 Melton Road, Gary, IN. Home daily; no team runs or sleeper berth.

About the Role

Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, while serving as the face of our company and building lasting customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, answering questions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post-trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; report safety issues and needed repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders per company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always appropriately locked/secured.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns at driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
• Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and trailers; secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at shift end.

Requirements

• 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
• High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent.
• Valid CDL A.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure a new one.
• Able to hand-lift and use two-wheelers, lift gates, or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (10–90 lbs) throughout shift.

Pay

Earning potential between $90,000 – $135,000 per year, averaging $94,000 annually.
