CDC Post-Master's Fellowship in Health Communication

About the role

The Public Health Infrastructure Center (PHIC), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), seeks a creative and innovative fellow to gain experience in digital media, communications, writing, and editing.

Responsibilities

  • Train with our dedicated team of health communication staff.
  • Gain experience on communications, such as creative content, video materials, digital media assets, newsletters, feature articles, web content, social media content, and event announcements for multiple platforms.
  • Build skills in data visualization, translation science, and strategic dissemination of scientific and program information.
  • Research and evaluate information sources to ensure the quality, relevance, and accuracy of communications content.
  • Craft clear, concise messaging that supports center programs, initiatives, and organizational priorities.
  • Edit and refine content in alignment with center style guidelines and audience needs.
  • Strengthen collaboration and communication skills by learning from leadership, divisions, offices, and agency partners on internal and external communication initiatives.

Requirements

The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing or have received a master's degree in the relevant fields. Degree must have been received within the past five years, or anticipated to be received by 9/30/2026. Preferred skills include familiarity with health communication, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and editing skills, and a strong understanding of digital media content practices.

  • Degree: Master's Degree received within the last 60 months or anticipated to be received by 9/30/2026
  • Minimum Overall GPA: 3.00
  • Discipline(s): Communications and Graphics Design
