CDBG Grants Administrator

The CDBG Grants Administrator (Mid-Level) supports the administration and oversight of federally funded grant programs, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and supporting financial management activities.
The successful candidate will be located within reasonable daily commuting distance to the Houston, TX area and will work 3 days remote and 2 days onsite per week.
Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and process grant applications for completeness and eligibility
- Maintain grant files, supporting documentation, and compliance records
- Track project budgets, expenditures, and funding allocations
- Assist with financial reconciliation, reporting, and audit preparation activities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grant requirements
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews of grant documentation and program activities
- Coordinate with applicants, stakeholders, project managers, and internal teams to facilitate grant administration activities
- Monitor grant performance and identify potential compliance issues
- Support program reporting and documentation requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, Planning, or related field
- 3+ years experience administering CDBG, CDBG-DR, CDBG-MIT, HUD, FEMA, or other federally funded grant programs
- 3+ years experience reviewing grant applications and supporting funding recommendations
- 3+ years experience and strong understanding of federal grant compliance and documentation requirements
- 3+ years accounting or finance background
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa
- Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in accounting and finance
- Current CPA
- Experience working with local governments or public sector clients
Skills
- Experience reviewing grant applications and supporting funding recommendations
- Strong analytical and data management skills
- Experience using grant management systems and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Schedule
Schedule may vary. Work on evenings and weekends may be required. Dependability and punctuality are paramount. Up to 50% travel to client onsite locations is expected for this position.
Working Environment
- Hybrid remote and onsite (2 days/week onsite in the Harris County area)
- Emergency management personnel may work in an office, home environment, or be deployed to the field, which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Work may be on-site with clients (e.g., EOC, hospital, debris sites, or local government buildings)
- Mobility required on-site with clients
- Sitting or standing for hours at a time
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to manipulate up to 25 lbs. repetitively throughout the day
