CD Tech - Part-Time

NUWAY Alliance is a nonprofit organization created in 2019 with a mission to provide leadership, innovation, and recovery access in response to national and local trends in behavioral healthcare. It provides overarching leadership and management to NUWAY House, Cochran Recovery Services, The Gables, Arrigoni Housing Support, and NUWAY Recovery Foundation.

About the role

As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Chemical Dependency Technician (CD Tech) will assist clients from admission through discharge, providing client support through the extended substance and mental health treatment process. CD Techs supervise and manage client behavior and help manage client crisis situations when necessary. They assist on-duty counselors as required in direct support of program goals and objectives.

CD Techs require self-confidence, professionalism, and the ability to exercise individual discretion and judgment. They must manage competing demands on their time and adhere to program schedule and rules. This includes situations where a client may be under the influence of a controlled substance or struggling with mental health symptoms; the CD Tech will respond in a professional, therapeutic, and positive manner. They must be able to react and respond to medical emergencies, conveying a positive and professional image to clients, staff, and visitors. CD Techs must maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients from admission through discharge in the extended substance and mental health treatment process.
• Supervise and manage client behavior, including crisis situations.
• Assist on-duty counselors in direct support of program goals and objectives.
• Respond professionally to clients under the influence of controlled substances or experiencing mental health symptoms.
• React and respond to medical emergencies while maintaining a positive and professional image.
• Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state, federal, and HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

• Age 18 or older.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification and Medication Administration certificate (for Residential only) obtained within 30 days of starting work.
• Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study.
• Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiently understand, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
• Able to effectively document services in writing formatted in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility or experience working in the substance use disorder and/or mental health field.
• Competent computer skills and able to effectively enter information in various systems.

Physical Demands

• Sitting for extended periods of time.
• Daily use of general office and/or residential facility equipment.
• Lifting (max 25 pounds), minimal reaching, bending, and stooping.
• Ability to effectively navigate program and office environment, such as ascending and descending steps, passing through doorways and entrances, and accessing program/office facilities.

Pay

$20 per hour, with an additional $2 per hour for any hours worked between 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
