Full-time 3rd shift Security Officer supporting a mission-driven organization focused on national security research and analysis.
Schedule
10 pm - 6 am, Tuesday - Saturday. Occasional extended coverage or overtime may be required as authorized by the Security Manager.
Responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with the Standard Practice and Procedures for SCI Manual and the CCS Security Force Manual of Policies and Procedures.
- Regulates personnel entry into building and adjacent areas; checks identification badges and ensures visitors are authorized for entry.
- Maintains log of visitors and operates the special personnel accountability system.
- Understands special instructions/orders at various posts within and outside the facility; remains at post until relieved or re-directed by supervisor.
- Patrols assigned area, alert to violations of security regulations, unauthorized persons, and safety hazards.
- Verifies safety features such as locks, alarms, and lights are functioning and operational.
- Responds to alarms, meeting time and physical requirements; takes prompt action to correct violations and creates accurate incident reports.
- Deals with individuals involved in unusual/suspicious situations firmly but courteously; works toward resolution involving management when necessary.
- Monitors video systems for unusual activity on the grounds or vicinity.
- Knows the process of activation/deactivation of alarm systems (SMTs) and monitoring UL alarm control station.
- Implements emergency procedures as situations dictate or as directed.
- Secures classified packages after office hours; secures alarm access and classified combinations to secure areas.
- Performs escort duty upon direction from supervisor; stays alert to actions and activities of persons under escort and reports unusual behavior.
- Knows building, office, and grounds layout for most direct route to destination.
- Conducts shredding of classified and sensitive information as required.
- Keeps informed and current with regulations and new procedures concerning Security Force operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a Full-Scope Polygraph.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of directly related security guard experience, preferably supporting a government, defense, or cleared environment.
- Proficient in using computer systems.
- Capable of monitoring facility and conducting security rounds, including responding on short notice to alarms or emergency situations.
- Able to lift packages or materials weighing 10 pounds.
- Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
- Able to stand for long periods of time; corrected vision of 20/20 with no hearing impairments.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.

Pay
Salary range for this role is $42,291–67,666, based on data-driven market analysis. Individual salary within this range will be commensurate with experience, unique skills, and qualifications.
