About the role

The position involves evaluating and providing care for respiratory therapy patients under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist.

Core duties and responsibilities

• Set up and maintain low flow oxygen devices of 6 LPM or less, including nasal cannula or a simple mask.
• Set up and maintain aerosol devices with Fi02 of equal to or less than 50%.
• Deliver medications through a spontaneous small volume nebulizer.
• Deliver medication via Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) or dry powder inhaler.
• Measure peak flow, simple spirometry, and pulse oximetry.
• Administer airway clearance devices or techniques such as therapy vest, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, suctioning via artificial airway, and positive expiratory pressure therapies.
• Communicate appropriately and effectively with other members of the healthcare team regarding all aspects of patient care.
• Provide assistance with patient and family/caregiver education along with other members of the healthcare team.

Physical requirements

• Ability to be on feet/walking extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull 40 pounds.
