CC POCATELLO - PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT/NURSE PRACTITIONER

About the Role

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to evaluate and treat urgent care patients, including injured workers (Workers Comp), and perform work and sports-related physicals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with acute minor medical illness, minor acute exacerbations of chronic illness, and minor injuries.
• Perform minor office procedures such as laceration repairs, splints, cyst or toenail excision, abscess incision and drainage, etc.
• Evaluate and provide appropriate stabilization for patients with acute serious medical conditions or injuries and facilitate transfer as needed to an emergency facility or hospital.
• Evaluate, treat, and provide follow-up care for patients with work-related injuries, requesting referral when appropriate.
• Perform wellness physicals, work-related physicals (such as DOT, respirator, pre-employment), and sports physicals.
• Manage patient care in a timely manner while maintaining productivity equivalent to other providers on staff.
• Interact with office, laboratory, radiology, and nursing staff as part of the patient care process.
• Perform required quality assurance steps in the patient care process.
• Interpret laboratory, radiology, EKG, and basic pulmonary function tests.
• Thoroughly and accurately document every patient encounter.
• Bill appropriately for each patient care visit.
• Respond to requests from hospital QMP (qualified medical personnel) for management of hospital walk-in patients via telephone or in person.
• Respond to inpatient Code Blue when no other provider is physically present in the building.
• Respond to local or statewide Disaster Code or Multi-casualty Incident (MSI) activations as appropriate.
• Handle all patient evaluations and transfers in compliance with federal EMTALA Regulations.
• Interface with providers and medical personnel within and outside Mountain View Hospital to ensure quality patient care.
• Serve as Team Leader for your assigned shift if you are the most medically qualified personnel, supervising or providing backup to other Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current Idaho licensure, Federal DEA, and IBOP certifications.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• At least two years of experience working independently in a primary care, urgent care, or emergency care setting, evaluating and treating a broad range of patients (infants to elderly) across various medical conditions and acuity levels.
• Proficiency with routine physical assessment tools.
• Strong communication skills with staff, patients, family members, and consultants; second language fluency is an asset.
• Basic math skills for calculating medication dosages.
• High level of diagnostic thinking, multitasking, and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities.
• Flexibility and strong knowledge of up-to-date clinical information.
• Ability to inspire and work well with staff, recognize patient needs, and communicate effectively across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, meet deadlines, and comply with hospital-level quality standards.
