Summary
The Catheterization Laboratory Technologist I supports cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing the lab and operating essential equipment, ensuring accurate documentation and patient safety.Responsibilities
- Maintains operational equipment and documents issues through the chain of command.
- Participates in daily room checks and supplies stocking.
- Accesses and prepares patient information for assigned procedures.
- Ensures appropriate equipment and room configuration for all procedures.
- Collaborates with the procedure team and Cath Lab Lead/Coordinator for optimal patient care and efficiency.
- Enters and documents proper patient information and hemodynamic measurements/recording during assigned procedures.
- Safeguards patient position and secures them on the procedure table according to procedure type.
- Trains and competencies to set up and operate cath lab equipment, including imaging and contrast injector systems.
- Moves/pans the table appropriately during fluoro and X-Ray acquisition, adhering to sterile technique.
- Supports the physician and ensures patient safety during scrubbing procedures.
- Supports the radiation safety representative during X-Ray usage.
- Performs fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition as needed.
- Adheres to attendance and productivity standards.
- Supports department and organization's commitment to Zero Harm and Customer Service.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology, associate’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or acceptable equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 0-1 year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire at Pediatric facilities.
- One of the following certifications preferred (individuals whose ARRT certification lapsed prior to June 1, 2023, may qualify under LSRTBE exemption criteria): Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Radiography (R) by ARRT, Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) by ARRT, Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) by ARRT, Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) by ARRT, Abdomen (AB) RDMS by ARDMS, Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) RDMS by ARDMS, Adult Echocardiography (AE) RDCS by ARDMS, Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS.
