Position Summary
Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for cardiovascular procedures.
Responsibilities
- Works under the supervision of a preceptor and/or charge person while in their orientation period.
- Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures and protocols.
- Accurately documents patient's clinical history and ensures records are complete and accurate.
- Assesses patient's physical condition and age-specific needs, and ensures patient education, safety, and comfort.
- Acquires patient's clinical history and ensures accurate documentation.
- Verifies files and records for completeness and accuracy of the patient involved in studies.
- Archives and amends demographic information to appropriate storage media.
- Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
- Assesses processed image media for technical quality, patient identification, and ensures all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
- Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
- Provides physiological and hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Serves as a scrub assistant for cardiovascular procedures, demonstrating aseptic technique.
- Demonstrates knowledge of hemostasis post-procedure.
- Locates, uses, and troubleshoots complex technical equipment/instruments.
- Maintains customer service skills in communication with all staff, visitors, and co-workers.
- Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources, tools, and forms.
- Maintains case turnover time to be within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing patient care.
- Maintains high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients' rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
- Notifies BioMed and/or equipment company as appropriate to resolve problems and reports incidents to supervisor.
- Utilizes all department computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Assists in developing and implementing essential policy and procedures.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all-procedural changes and equipment updates.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
- Manages reportable occurrences and files appropriate forms with Risk Management.
- Participates in the process to ensure adherence to OSHA, JCAHO, FDA regulations within the department.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure.
Qualifications
- One of the following criteria must be met:
- RRT or CRT: Associate degree from an accredited respiratory therapy education program.
- R.T.(R): Completion of an accredited radiography program.
- Paramedic—NREMT-P: Completion of an accredited paramedic education program.
- Licensure/Certification: Maintain current BLS and ACLS certification. PALS may be required depending on unit specific needs.
- Must Possess And Maintain One Of The Following:
- Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)—Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification OR Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)—Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)—Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R))—Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Paramedic—National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification and obtain RCIS within 18 months of being hired.
