Cath Lab Tech - Full Time, Day (St. Mary)
About the Role
This is a full-time position in the Cardio Lab at St. Mary Medical Center, operating on a day shift schedule of 40 hours per week with 10-hour shifts, including on-call responsibilities. On-call duties typically involve one weekday per week and one weekend (Friday 5 PM through Monday 7 AM) every fifth week, though needs may vary.
Responsibilities
- Work autonomously and collaboratively with supervising physicians, department staff, and healthcare team members.
- Assist physicians in performing basic to advanced interventional cardiovascular and radiologic procedures for adult patients, including cardiac catheterization, balloon angioplasty, cardiac/peripheral vascular stenting, and interventional radiology procedures for trauma patients.
- Follow department protocols for procedures unless specified otherwise by a Radiologist.
- Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information in appropriate systems.
- Ensure proper patient identification according to National Patient Safety Goals and verify physician’s written orders.
- Produce quality diagnostic images, including proper positioning, technique, and image orientation.
- Respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
- Consult and communicate professionally with other departments.
- Address safety, health, and moral needs of patients and coworkers.
- Plan care delivery based on patient injury or physical limitations.
- Operate medical imaging equipment safely and properly.
- Demonstrate awareness of radiation safety procedures for self and others.
- Replenish and change supplies in assigned areas as needed.
- Ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting warm-up procedures and reporting malfunctions.
- Perform accurate procedures in the operating room and assist Radiologists in fluoroscopic procedures.
- Perform quality bedside radiographs.
- Accurately prepare and assist in administering contrast materials.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or ARRT certification required.
- Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire (successful completion required).
- BLS Certification.
- One year of experience in Cath Lab, IR, or EP preferred.
- On-call commitment.
