About the role
Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Lab. Up to $30,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
The Registered Nurse (RN) performs competent nursing care using the critical-thinking nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care (teaching and health promotion), and evaluation. The RN integrates standards of professional performance—ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health—into daily practice.
In the Cardiac Cath Lab, the RN will float, monitor, scrub, and assist with procedures including diagnostic caths, interventions, CTOs, Afib Watchman device, Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), TAVR Heart Valve Replacement, Mitra clips, left/right heart caths, biopsies, cardioversions, transesophageal echo, loop recorder implants, and more.

Responsibilities
- Perform competent nursing care using the nursing process
- Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Float, monitor, and scrub during cardiac catheterization lab procedures
- Assist with diagnostic and interventional procedures as listed above
- Adhere to standards of professional performance in nursing practice
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (preferred)
- Virginia RN License or Compact/Multi-State eligibility
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- ACLS certification within 1 year of hire (Critical Care/IMCU)
- Experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, PCU, ER, Cardiac, Stepdown, or Recovery Room

Schedule
7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, working four ten-hour shifts per week. Required to take call.
