Catering To You Associate - Per Diem - Evening

About the role

At Hackensack Meridian Health, our team members are the heart of what makes us better. The Catering to You - Patient Dining Associate assists patients with menu selections and works closely with our Food and Nutrition Department and clinical staff to ensure nutritious and satisfactory meals tailored to patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate and current information for each patient on assigned unit(s).
• Demonstrates knowledge of modified diets, proper condiments, and related restrictions by passing a written test provided by clinical staff.
• Reports patient understanding of diet to Dietitian/Diet Technician.
• Assists Dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or need intake recorded.
• Accurately adapts to Physician-ordered modified patient diets and ensures efficient timing of services through quality patient customer service.
• Assists patients with menu selections, assembles selected meals on trays, and handles delivery and pick-up of meal trays.
• Communicates patient/resident-related problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Customer service skills.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
• Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and caregivers.
• Exceptional focus on teamwork.
• Dedication to ongoing education.
• Passion for delivering the highest quality of care based on patient focus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Food service experience.

Pay

The minimum starting rate of pay for this role is $17.68 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good-faith estimate and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding.
