Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and current information for each patient on assigned unit(s).
• Demonstrate knowledge of modified diets, proper condiments, and related restrictions after passing a written test provided by clinical staff.
• Report patients' understanding of diet to the Dietitian or Diet Technician.
• Assist the Dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or need intake recorded.
• Adapt to physician‑ordered modified patient diets and ensure efficient timing of services while providing quality patient customer service.
• Assist patients with menu selections, assemble selected meals on trays, and handle delivery and pick‑up of meal trays in partnership with the Food and Nutrition Department.
• Communicate any patient or resident‑related problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
• Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Customer service skills.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
• Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers.
• Exceptional focus on teamwork.
• Dedication to ongoing education.
• Ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong patient focus.
• Preferred: Food service experience.

Pay

The minimum rate of pay is $17.68 hourly. This posted rate is a good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, relevant experience, education and certifications, demonstrated skills, geographic location, internal equity, and departmental budgets or grant funding. Some positions may also be eligible for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, commissions, or shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work.
