Catering To You Associate - Part Time - Evening
About the role
As a Catering to You - Patient Dining Associate at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will assist patients with menu selections and collaborate closely with our Food and Nutrition Department and clinical staff to meet patient nutrition needs. This role focuses on delivering nutritious and satisfactory meals tailored to individual patient requirements while maintaining accurate dietary information.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate and current information for each patient on assigned unit(s).
- Demonstrates knowledge of modified diets, proper condiments, and related restrictions by passing a written test provided by clinical staff.
- Reports patients' understanding of diet to Dietitian/Diet Technician.
- Assists Dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or need intake recorded.
- Adapts to Physician-ordered modified patient diets accurately and ensures efficient timing of services through quality patient customer service.
- Assists patients with menu selections, assembles selected meals on trays, and handles delivery and pick-up of meal trays.
- Communicates any patient/resident-related problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Requirements
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Customer service skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
- Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers.
- Exceptional focus on teamwork.
- Dedication to ongoing education.

- Food service experience.
Pay
The starting hourly rate for this role is $17.68. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Full-time and part-time positions (20+ hours/week) are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Certain roles may also qualify for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
