Catering & Events Coordinator, Full-Time - Land's End Resort ($20/hr+ DOE & Benefits - Homer, AK)

About the Role

This position supports the Land’s End Resort, a 117-room hotel in Homer, AK, by coordinating catering activities and events with daily client and customer contact.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure dining activities and services are provided in a high quality, consistent, and cost-effective manner.
  • Plan or participate in planning menus, preparing and apportioning foods, and utilizing food surpluses and leftovers.
  • Communicate with and lead events staff within the organization.
  • Coordinate all aspects of catering activities and events.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Measure the performance of assigned events and activities.
  • Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Provide exceptional guest service throughout the event.
  • Prepare and serve food and refreshments at social affairs.
  • Purchase and/or requisition kitchen supplies, catering wares, and equipment.
  • Establish and implement an organized system of supervision and general operating procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of event management software and interpret Event Forms and Pull Sheets.
  • Direct and coordinate the promotion of new services.
  • Track financial data, reports, forecasts, and expenditures to achieve optimum efficiency, economy of operations, and maximize profits.
  • Support an active safety program.
  • Facilitate the employment of NANA shareholders.
  • Continuously seek to improve the quality of assigned events activities.
  • Define and ensure understanding of responsibilities, authorities, and accountability for all assigned employees.
  • Demonstrate professional skills in communication, change management, employee development, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of catering & events coordinating experience.
  • Alaska Food Workers Card or ServSafe Certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event management software.
  • Experience with sales reports and POS (Point of Sale) transactions.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under the NMS vehicle insurance policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hotel/hospitality catering & events planning experience.
  • Full beverage and bar experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role operates in a commercial kitchen within a hotel setting, primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled space with moderate to loud noise levels.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, see, taste, and smell.
  • No travel required.
