About the role

This position provides exceptional quality food and beverage service on and off campus, ranging from intimate small events to large scale galas, fine dining to picnics. You will support the management team in the Catering and Dining Departments and assist all Auxiliary Service departments as needed to carry out the university's mission.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of food items for catered events
• Primarily responsible for the sanitation of the catering facilities around campus
• Under the direction of the Executive Chef and Catering Manager
• Support the management team in the Catering and Dining Departments
• Assist all Auxiliary Service departments as needed
• Work in a fast-paced atmosphere
• Set up and break down a room before and after an event

Requirements

• Previous food service experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Education preferred: Some Culinary Art School courses
• Experience: High volume production experience, catering experience

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write
• Basic math skills
• Knowledge of all types of cooking methods and converting recipes
• Knowledge of all kitchen equipment
• Good organizational skills, ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently
• Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates

Skills

• Ability to work in fast-paced atmosphere
• Ability to work independently at remote satellite kitchens or catering sites
• Ability to set up and break down a room before and after an event

Pay

$32,672 to $40,846, commensurate with education and experience
