Job Description Spire Solutions is hiring Category Manager - Steel to join our team in Des Moines, IA! The Category Manager will provide excellent customer service to clients by ensuring the best materials to keep construction projects running smoothly. This role will work with a trusted network of national supplier to find cost-effective resources and ensure timely delivery. What You’ll Do Implement supply agreements that facilitate shorter lead times and simplified procedures for quoting and awarding workUnderstand capabilities, limitations, and available capacity of materials at all times to properly coordinate distribution of work to deliver reliable service to customersNegotiate and manage long-term supply agreements with Preferred Supplier Network (PSN) members while ensuring agreements clearly establish the roles and responsibilities of each party and document pricing agreementsPartner with project teams and PSN to continuously improve the performance and reliability of steel supply chainSupport project teams to maintain costs within project budget and scheduleWork directly with project teams to establish a short list of PSN members to quote the work on the project and select the best partners for the specific projectDevelop and mentor team membersEnsure products are high quality and provide excellent customer serviceConduct monthly project status meetingsOversee Project Managers, Estimators and Supply Chain AnalystsReview project estimates prior to submissionEnsure all safety protocols are met on site What We’re Looking For Experience:10+ years of experience in supply chain management, sourcing, procurement, or purchasingExperience with steel from a supply chain perspective is highly preferredKnowledge of and/or exposure to quality assurance is desiredSkills:Analytical, strategic, and strong problem-solving skillsSkilled at building relationshipsExcellent negotiation skillsFlexibility to balance competing needs with tight timeframesHigh level of initiativeDetail-oriented and highly organizedExcellent verbal and written communication skillsTechnology:Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire What We Offer Competitive PayRewarding Bonus ProgramComprehensive Benefits Package with Tax-Advantaged HSA and FSA offeringsEmployer-Paid Short- and Long-Term Disability ProgramsEmployer-Paid Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off Provisions401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with Company MatchTuition ReimbursementFully Paid Parental LeaveVoluntary Products Including: Critical Illness Insurance and Accident InsuranceCorporate Wellness Program with Wellness Time Off and Rewards Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
