About the role

Leader in Global Procurement responsible for developing and driving execution of category management strategies for the achievement of long-term goals and short-term business plans. Manages the development and delivery of value from the supply base to mitigate risk, reduce cost, and reduce working capital to meet and exceed business and customer expectations. Responsible for highly strategic spend up to $600 million that can be leveraged globally, which includes raw materials that become a major component of the finished product (i.e. significant impact on cost), or major capital equipment and services used to produce products.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly engage with mid-level leadership (Plant, R&D, & Functional Managers), frequently interact with senior leaders (Directors, VPs, BU / Function Exec's), and intermittently interact with Bemis Officers to develop and apply a multi-year strategy to account for current and future market conditions and organization requirements.
  • Independently lead projects by guiding, directing and creating alignment with project stakeholders utilizing project management principles, tools and practices to manage projects within constraints, producing multiple deliverables simultaneously while meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Engage global stakeholders to evaluate cross region opportunities, develop relationships with global peers, actively lead and/or coordinate global initiatives as required, provide global consultation and direction frequently across all regions, work regularly to leverage a global supply base and share best practices with global teammates.
  • Leverage extensive negotiation experience with large, complex negotiations with other organizations and contractors, establishing clear negotiation strategy, objectives, plans, and response to various negotiating tactics.
  • Systematically identify and analyze risk on all expenditures within the category and implement risk management strategies to reduce the potential impact of risks and assure continuity of supply.
  • Identify, forecast, and execute on cost-out opportunities and working capital improvements utilizing a multi-year strategy to maintain a continuous flow of opportunities.
  • Understand the current supply base and competitors within the category as well as market trends, and technical and commercial elements to formulate strategies and tactics that derive value from a range of commodities within the assigned category.
  • Build upon industry-wide networks, and cultivate internal relationships, deliver on opportunities to transform cost structures and introduce innovation to company products and processes.
  • Apply Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) techniques to deliver increasing levels of value and competitive advantage.
  • Understand the cost drivers of the commodities within the category, along with market trends and industry benchmarking, to assure the lowest Total Cost of Ownership is achieved.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of intricate negotiation strategies and plans to achieve desired business results including legal and commercial terms, claims resolution, service levels and performance expectations.
  • Utilize a multi-step strategic sourcing process from planning through execution, implementation, and performance monitoring. Lead and coach others in the application and use of the strategic sourcing processes.
  • Apply clear, reasoned logic to business decisions that link 1) objectives of the company and key stakeholders, 2) competitive strategies required for success, 3) people and activities needed to produce and sell products and services, and 4) business processes that support the ability to deal with the complexity.
  • Anticipate and provide value added information, including forecasting future events and behaviors, to predict the effects of potential outcomes in business strategies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders early to ensure buy in and support, helping others overcome resistance to change.
  • Develop organizational capability in Procurement, inclusive of leadership and development of Procurement Category Specialists, leading by example, continuous learning, and setting expectations for high performance.
  • Define, monitor and evaluate supplier performance measurements. Identify root cause of performance failures and drive continuous improvement in quality and service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred
  • 10+ years of strategic procurement, or relevant technical / business leadership experience, and at least 3 years related product experience
  • Professional certification from related professional body desired

  • Compensation: Starting salary range between $129,200 to $193,800, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $129,200 to $161,500; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $129,200 to $193,800 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
