About the role

The Manager of Category Development, under the guidance of Director, Category Development Skincare, is responsible for leading the skincare and haircare categories at Walmart. They will leverage shopper insights and category analysis to establish strategies and enhance the shopping experience to accelerate the growth of dermatological skincare and haircare and our brands.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead the strategic vision and development of Skincare and Haircare categories at Walmart.
  • Build and maintain true understanding of total and Walmart specific market trends and omni-channel category insights.
  • Partner with Sales team to support them in developing strategic account objectives and executional plans, using category insights.
  • Ensure usage of all category and shopper tools, such as NielsenIQ, Market360, Amazon Tech/Profitero, Scintilla, Numerator, Spate, Suzy panel research, Ipsos panel research, social engagement tools, Retailer loyalty systems, bespoke shopper studies (CDJ’s, Shopper Perception, UX studies, Merchandizing Studies) and external market research (ex. Euromonitor, Kantar, Kline, Mintel).
  • Attend high-level customer engagement meetings in partnership with sales to present LDB as category expert and thought leader.
  • Lead development of holistic solutions that advance all pillars of traditional category management (space & assortment, category insights, in-store merchandising, etc.) and work with the merchant team to implement at Walmart.
  • Exhibit a constant sense of curiosity, be highly motivated to gain insight/understanding of the LDB and Walmart business and proactively come up with opportunities/recommendations to move the business forward.
  • Consistently aspire to bring additional sophistication, improvement & efficiency to the analysis of the business. Utilize and adapt all central category thought leadership (Quarterly Market Assessments) and adapt this content to be relevant for Walmart.
  • Develop in depth bi annual reset assessments for Skincare and Haircare and present internally to key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the evolution from Category Management to Category Development (thought leadership and enhanced story telling), focusing on long-term growth and innovation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working with data in the fields of category management, category leadership, or shopper insights.
  • Understands and can use multiple data sources effectively to analyze business opportunities.
  • Strong financial acumen with business analysis and experience.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and manage cross-functional coordination.
  • Category Advisorship experience is not required but would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated data-driven decision making and the ability to translate complex data into actions and improvements.
  • Expert knowledge of syndicated data (e.g., Nielson, IRI or NPD) and panel data sources.
  • Well versed in digital analytics and knows how to measure and read the performance of digitally focused businesses.
