About the role

The Category Analyst will support and drive category performance through catalog management, vendor partnerships, and data-driven decision-making. They will work closely with leading equine, poultry, and livestock feed companies to optimize assortment strategy, onboard new brands and products, and improve overall category health.

Responsibilities

  • Drive category performance through effective catalog management and vendor engagement, including promotions, assortment optimization, SKU onboarding, and vendor onboarding
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, Merchandising Operations, and Product teams to meet and exceed category goals
  • Analyze economic and industry trends, particularly related to agricultural commodities and inputs, to inform forecasting and strategy
  • Lead strategic initiatives and identify process improvements to increase efficiency across the Equine and Farm teams
  • Support Category Managers in executing business priorities and delivering results across the broader Equine and Farm business

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Animal Sciences, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field
  • Experience working with agricultural products, commodities, or animal health/nutrition categories
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in Excel and familiarity with SQL preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Proficiency in SQL or other data analysis tools
  • Internship or early-career experience in eCommerce, category management, buying, analytics, consulting, finance, marketing, agribusiness, or animal sciences
  • Ability to influence across a cross-functional, matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated ownership and a track record of delivering results
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and decision-making

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with horses, poultry, livestock, or agricultural/crop sciences
  • Business acumen and analytical strength
  • Fast learning ability to translate complex data into clear insights
  • Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and influencing partners
  • Comfortable using tools including AI to improve productivity and outcomes

Benefits

  • Base salary range: $76,000 - $114,000.00
  • Eligible for 401(k) and a new hire and annual equity grant

Pay

  • Base salary range: $76,000 - $114,000.00
