Category Analyst

Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Walmart buying team on the categories supported, leading category strategy development and advanced analytics aligned with customer business goals and growth expectations.
- Execute space planning for the categories in which Hormel competes.
- Analyze business issues and provide insights and recommendations in modular strategies, assortment, shelving, pricing, and merchandising to drive business results for Walmart.
- Provide periodic and ad-hoc reporting, including deep-dive analysis into market and product issues with actionable recommendations.
- Deliver monthly tracking reports covering assortment optimization, new item volume transfer, market share, shelving/aisle tests, pricing, promotions, ROM, and key competitor performance.
- Conduct competitive and marketplace intelligence, analysis, and reporting, including share gap reporting, price gap reporting, and market visits to determine competitive retailer strategies.
- Develop and utilize category management insights to generate business development strategies and tactics, supporting Hormel’s overall brand development.
- Help develop strategies to further penetrate the customer's organization.
- Responsible for annual space planning and drawing of modulars for Walmart.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of Sales/Marketing/Sales Strategy experience.
- Strong skills using technical tools such as Excel, Circana, Panel, Customer POS, and Space Planning (JDA).
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Sales/Marketing/Sales Strategy experience (preferred).
- Walmart Category Management experience, specializing in Luminate (preferred).
- Space planning experience (preferred).
This position is based at the Bentonville Sales Office in Bentonville, AR. A comprehensive relocation package to the Bentonville area may be offered if required.
Pay
The base hiring pay range for the Senior Category Development Analyst role is between $82,800 – $115,925 per year. Actual base pay will depend on job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
