About the role
The University of Miami Health System is currently seeking a full-time CT Scan Technologist – Level II to float on multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Career coordination and patient flow management for interdepartmental procedures.
- Supervise and perform diagnostic imaging studies under the direction of a radiologist.
- Aid in developing new protocols and ultrasound imaging techniques unique to the facility.
- Participate in research initiatives and develop research protocols.
- Monitor and charge CT procedures and supplies daily to ensure accuracy.
- Provide in-service classes in the section.
- Verify patient identification by checking names and dates of birth on electronic medical records and patient wristbands.
- Obtain necessary consents and educate patients.
- Operate CT scanners and related equipment under the direction of a radiologist, following radiation safety procedures.
- Demonstrate competence in performing CT scans as ordered.
- Position patients in required anatomical positions for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment.
- Maintain proper aseptic technique and follow universal precautions guidelines.
- Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality and collate processed images in sequence.
- Film/transmit processed images to PACS.
- Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.
- Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
- Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Assist with positioning patients for scanning and provide explanations and reassurance.
- Apply physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to competency validation checklists.
- Perform basic nursing functions in the patient’s care, such as assisting with bedpans, emesis basins, etc.
- Assist with life support measures for patients during medical emergencies.
- Perform CPR as needed.
- Keep work area clean and sanitize.
- Stock exam/dressing rooms with required supplies.
- Provide on-call coverage.
- Report unusual findings to appropriate Radiologist/Supervisory personnel.
- Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
- Train new CT technologists and student technologists.
- Comply with hospital/department HR policies and regulatory body guidelines.
- Contribute to the day-to-day operations within the department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology / Diagnostic Imaging Program.
- State of Florida License as a General Radiographer.
- ARRT Registered and ARRT Certified in Primary Modality Required.
- CPR and BLS certification required.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience required.
- Skills in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Pay
$5 Shift Differential for this position.
