CASUALTY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM SPECIALIST.

Duties

You will plan, schedule, and participate in or conduct complex drills, assessments, and investigations to evaluate the level of preparedness. You will review PSNS and IMF casualty preparedness and drill program instructions and plans for adequacy, with emphasis on compliance with federal and NAVSEA requirements and recommendations. You will provide ongoing input to the Code 106 drill program, maintaining records of evaluations, studies, and surveillance results. You will use written and oral communication skills to maintain various reports.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously during the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals). Participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
• This position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, and may involve extended periods on military and commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, evaluating and coordinating radiological casualty preparedness and emergency response drills for an emergency management program.

For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, monitoring effectiveness or coordinating management of radiological casualty responses for an emergency management program.

Additional qualification information can be found from the Office of Personnel Management. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer work through National Service programs, which builds critical competencies, knowledge, and skills.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of education and experience:

For GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related to the position. A transcript must be submitted if qualifying using education.
