Job Summary

Go-Ahead London is seeking to expand its dedicated team of commercial drivers to cover private hire and commercial activities including rail replacement duties and major events. We are particularly interested in drivers with existing PCV licences who are looking for variety in their roles.

About the Role

We are offering casual contract and private hire driver positions with a starting hourly rate of £21.40. The role involves rail replacement activities, commercially operated services, and potential TfL service work. The position requires a good work and driving record, EU driving regulation knowledge, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of courtesy and driving skills.

Responsibilities

  • The safety and comfort of passengers is always a priority.
  • Engage with customers in a tactful and professional manner, addressing any questions they may have about their journey.
  • Ensure the bus is fit for service at the start of each duty.
  • Ensure passengers have the correct means to travel for their journey.
  • Maintain the schedule on the assigned route.
  • Comply with company rules and regulations.
  • Understand and adhere to driver hours regulations, including EU drivers' hours regulations.
  • Have current UK category D (PCV) entitlement and no more than 6 penalty points on your licence.
  • Able to meet the DVLA medical standards to hold a PCV (category D entitlement) licence.
  • Numerate, literate, and able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • The right to live/work in the United Kingdom.

Requirements

For internal applicants, a good work and driving record, free from blameworthy accidents and customer complaints for 2 years, is required. External applicants must provide suitable references and their current or previous employer's Licence for London documents.

Qualifications

Current UK category D (PCV) entitlement is required, along with no more than 6 penalty points on your licence (contact us before applying if you have had a Drink/Drive conviction).

Skills

Able to meet the DVLA medical standards to hold a PCV (category D entitlement) licence.
