About the Role
Provides customer service in person, via phone, or email; computes charges and receives payments.
Responsibilities
- Processes payments, reviews accounts, and runs reports.
- Obtains and records customer information in system.
- Provides customer service by answering questions and addressing concerns, in person, on the phone, or via email.
- Performs related work as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of City ordinances.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software.
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skill in organization and time management.
- Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
- Occasional outside work.
- Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work environments include:
- Sometimes: Warehouse, extreme cold (below 32 degrees).
- Frequently: Outdoor, street (near moving traffic), construction site, vehicles, extreme heat (above 100 degrees).
- Often: Office or similar indoor environment, confined space, hostile or irate individuals, individuals with known violent backgrounds, communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noises (85+ decibels).
- Travel: Often local, never regional, national, or international.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
- 1 year experience in bank telling, payment processing, cash handling, or customer service.
- Valid Texas Driver License (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment if holding an out-of-state license).
