About the role

Provides customer service in person, via phone, or email; computes charges and receives payments.

Responsibilities

• Processes payments, reviews accounts, and runs reports.
• Obtains and records customer information in system.
• Provides customer service by answering questions and addressing concerns, in person, on the phone, or via email.
• Performs related work as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of City ordinances.
• Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software.
• Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
• Skill in organization and time management.
• Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Often works in an office or similar indoor environment.
• Sometimes works in construction sites, warehouse environments, outdoors, street environments (near moving traffic), or confined spaces.
• Sometimes exposed to individuals with known violent backgrounds, extreme cold (below 32 degrees), or communicable diseases.
• Often exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate, extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noises (85+ decibels).
• Exerts up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Frequently requires local travel.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
• 1 year experience in bank telling, payment processing, cash handling, or customer service.
• Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

A thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required. All selected applicants must undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment and may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing if in safety-sensitive functions/positions.
