About the role

The Diet Host/Hostess coordinates meal and nourishment activities for each patient of Jackson Hospital consistent with the diet prescribed.

Responsibilities

• Customer relations
• Tabulating/recording/organizing/disseminating pertinent data and information
• Preparing/distributing patient trays
• Participating in departmental quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent (G.E.D)
• Prior hospital, nursing home, and/or food service experience preferred, but not required

Qualifications

• No licenses, certifications, or registrations required
• Specialized skills: high customer relations skill level, telephone courtesy skills, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to learn and understand specialized diet prescriptions, basic computer and math/calculator usage skills, knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to various age specific populations
• Physical requirements: good hearing and visual acuity, ability to lift and carry 20 pounds, physical stamina to walk and stand for long periods of time, also must be able to sit for long periods at a desk and/or computer
