About the role

Fry's Food Stores, now part of The Kroger Company, seeks to create exceptional customer experiences through a focus on service, safety, and community engagement. As a cashier or checker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Visible and active greeting, engaging, and assisting customers
• Processing customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
• Understanding and adhering to the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders, and following company policy
• Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and adhering to food safety regulations
• Staying updated with store promotions and adhering to local, state, and federal laws
• Managing conflict in a cooperative manner and maintaining a positive, welcoming environment
• Providing support and assistance to customers, including those with special needs and older adults

Requirements

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Qualifications

Desired previous job experience includes:

• Customer service experience
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk

Skills

Essential skills include:

• Understanding and adhering to company policies and procedures
• Handling restricted sale items and managing cash shortages or overages
• Adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines
• Following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
• Performing tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
