About the role
Fry's Food Stores, now part of The Kroger Company, seeks to provide exceptional customer service and a safe, welcoming environment. As a cashier/checker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers have positive experiences and feel valued.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers, maintaining visibility and engagement.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system.
- Handle various tender types including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Report and address pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay updated with store promotions and adhere to food safety regulations.
- Comply with safety protocols, identify and report unsafe conditions, and enforce preventive maintenance practices.
- Engage with customers, answer product-related questions, and foster a welcoming atmosphere.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines.
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Act with honesty and integrity, managing conflicts in a non-confrontational manner.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include:
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Desired qualifications include:
- Previous job experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
