Responsibilities

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers.
  • Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages.
  • Work honestly and effectively to control loss.
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated.
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
