About the role

Responsibilities
- Visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently
- Understand and adhere to the POS system, handling various tenders like Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
- Adhere to policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines
- Reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notifying store management
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated
- Adhere to local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner
- Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
Qualifications
- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction)

- Customer service experience
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
