Cashier

Responsibilities

• Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand and handle various tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
• Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Previous experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is desired.
