Responsibilities
- Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers.
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Understand and handle various tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Follow local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Resolve customer and business issues through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Previous experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is desired.
